We are all beginning to settle in a bit to a routine that we are managing pretty well. Jia is presently cooing in her "pack and play". Oh what a wonderful thing that contraption is for the mom! Early last week, in the midst of my back woes and Jia's tummy woes I looked at T around 5 pm in not so quiet desperation and grunted the words PACK AND PLAY. He tore out of our cul-de-sac like Steve McQueen in one of those 70's car chase movies squealing wheels all the way to Target. Gotta love Target. He returned with the mac daddy of pack and plays and momma's life has been vastly improved ever since. I don't think T even knew what a pack and play was but he does now and boy did he get us a life saver.
Jia is a delight. Her improvement is stunning. She is sitting upright in her stroller, her personality is blossoming (as are her demands) and she is eating like a race horse! If only I could get a little baby food into her without a fight. We both end up orange and exhausted so I'm just trying a little bit everyday. The term "stay at home mom" is a misnomer. No mom would ever "stay at home" with a baby. Heaven help us. To avoid the crying and whimpering that took place Wednesday Jia decided to get her mom out and about yesterday. It was a much better day. We visited friends from work at both my employer and T's, we explored Target some more and then hit Starbucks for a much needed frap and piece of lemon pound cake. I fell into bed like a zombie at 9pm. My hat is off to all those moms who don't work outside of the home. Geesh. I've actually been jealous of T when he heads out to work sometimes. But my day is coming and I'll miss our angel when that time finally does come. The physical demands of mommyhood are worth every second and I know I'll gradually feel less exhaustion -won't I?.

Beth,
Your update is delightful and Jia looks so happy!! I am sure it has everything to do with the love and attention she is now receiving.
It also sounds like you may want to join the club I belong to....The I admire all stay at home mothers club!! I quit my job after my second child to be a stay at home mom....well,within 4 weeks I had one foot on a banana peel and the other one in the nut house I decided I wanted to be a totally devoted working mother in order to recover my sanity. (The sanity part could be debated but that is for another day). Keep the posts going....I love to watch Jia's progress and smiles and to hear of your adventures through parenthood. PS - The visual of T going to Target for the Pack and Play was wonderful (as are the pack and plays as you have found out and my sincere recommendation for a plastic playyard once she is walking!!!)
