Good Morning!

It's a quiet, beautiful morning here in Guangzhou. Jia and her daddy are still asleep at 6:30 am! We were blessed with another full night of sleep and Jia seems to be progressing wonderfully! Oh, but remember the calm, quiet and shy disposition I mentioned yesterday? Well, Jia also has some of her mom in her as well! We had quite the fussy afternoon yesterday and Jia has shown she has some high maintenance tendencies! Being held while sitting was a no no. MUST WALK AT ALL TIMES WHILE BEING HELD. heh heh. I know all the moms and dads out there know all about that. But she is adjusting to these big crazy Caucasians and I think the reality set in yesterday that she is stuck with us! We turned on some chinese TV to comfort her at the recommendation of our guide and it did seem to help. We had some big events yesterday. We were interviewed by the Directors at the Civil Affairs Office here and in the eyes of the Chinese Government Jia is now officially our child! Then we went to the Carriefour here for baby supplies and wine (just kidding about the wine) and that was a VERY interesting experience! It's kind of like the Chinese (or rather French) version of Walmart but there are 5 floors and we shopped on 2 floors underground. You wouldn't believe the heat! Agh! Not to mention the aromas! But we were successful in getting pampers and formula and Jia had only a minor (major) melt down. We were very tired by the time we got home but after a quick Frappucino we were ready for the rest of the day. We ate at an authentic Chinese restaurant last night and I'll post pictures a little later today. Much of the diner's options are displayed live in the front of the restaurant, visible from the street, to pull the customer in with delicacies like fresh big honkin' water bugs, silk worm and snake. Yummmmmmy! Our guides are incredible and were kind enough to order for us! Thank you for all of your comments and please keep them coming. While we can't actually see the blog we do get your comments are they put a big smile on our faces as we are getting homesick and can't wait to see you all! I've attached a few more pics from Jia Day as we haven't yet downloaded the pics from yesterday. We'll do that today. Sorry if some are repeats - can't see the blog to check! Talk to you soon!

Good Morning Beth, T, Jia, and Grandma Barb. We could not be happier for you!! Jia looks much "bigger" then expected or is it that the 10# rule about pictures and TV. Either way, she is too cute. I can't wait to kiss those rosy checks!! David is really excited and we have been checking in the morning and evening.

Anyway-thinking of you and wishing you the best. All our love and support are sent your way!

This is a great love story to read every day - what a way to start and end my day. I love how she is staring up at you Beth. Thumb in the mouth is my fave. I remember the first night, we turned on the Guatemalan music video channel and Shakira came on and boy did Javi turn into a new man and that is when we realized that he was a ladies man. Love reading the adventures of the day! Take care.............

High maintenance is no surprise. Really cute baby, appears she will have control of everything by the time you get home. Don't think my last message got through, but Mary has now taught me that "G" is no longer part of the alphabet.

Hope the US government can be as efficient as China. Somehow, I doubt it.

Safe travels.
