On June 8th, 2008 Jia became our town's newest Catholic! It was a beautiful service and Jia was baptized with loving family and friends joining to celebrate the blessed event! She looked so beautiful in her dress (although she kept grabbing the collar like an office guy with a way too tight tie!). The cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful. Jia even managed to charm a laugh out of the priest during the baptism. Thank you to all of our friends and family who joined us on this special day and then after for Jia's first birthday party! I've included a couple of pictures of both. I walked into the dining room (after explaining to her father that she was not allowed to have cake and ice cream just yet) only to find her dad holding her with cake smeared on her mouth! What - I asked - the heck?? Terrell just looked at me with that famous "what?" "huh?" look! Stinker. I told him he was officially on diaper duty for the next 24 hours! But of course Jia just loved her little taste of cake and there were no ill effects. Maybe it will help her to understand the wonderful world of real food that I continue to coax her grudgingly into.

Glad to hear the cake went off without a hitch. Javi will get his first birthday cake this September and what a mess he will be. Can't wait to hear more about Jia. How is she enjoying this heat? My social buttlerflies including the pups have been out all week in the heat and they are ready for some relief. See you soon and did you see those cute new referral photos yet!!
