Why I'm Not Skinny

Ok - I've been tagged! Thanks Jen - now I have to tell weird things about myself! :)
This is Jen's wonderful blog about her beautiful family. Jennifer's daughter Kelly and Jia were best friends in the orphanage. I'm amazed that we found each other on-line! We were not in China at the same time.
There is a huge pool of things to pull from - I'll do my best to limit it to just seven!

1. I have chronic insomnia and wake up with a racing mind. A friend once told me a transcendental meditation trick is to pick a number and in your mind trace it over and over on an imagined black board to help fall asleep. Stupidly, I picked the number 8. Why didn't I pick the number 1?

2. I eat chocolate at 10 am - routinely. (See title of this post.)

3. I wake up with a tune in my head everyday - lately it has involved Blue's Clues - but sometimes it's a bad Barry White song.

4. I've colored my hair since I was 25 - I've always wanted to be a natural red head.

5. I wish I could write for a living. David Sedaris is my hero. Instead I'm a businesswoman............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

6. As a young woman I said one of my dating criteria was that I'd never date a guy with a butt smaller than mine. It severely limited my dating pool.

7. I get out of bed at 5:30 am every morning. Not interesting but a fact. An exhausting one.

I don't have the 7 blogs to link to! I'll work on that and add later!

LOL! I have insominia too - I usually count sheep. I got to 759 the other night. I think I'll give your method a try. Ugh.

Beth-

I know a cure for insominia. I will send you over a copy of some of my favorite reading materials!! It might help or you could become a leading expert - either way you might benefit (he-he)

Yay, Beth! You played!! Good job, and your facts were hilarious! I laughed out loud on several... especially that you picked the number 8!!!
Okay, the 'up at 5:30am' one was not funny though... ouch... but I feel your pain... I'm up at 5:30 every morning too. =(
Thanks for the sweet comments about our blog, and for the compliment on my blog design. If you look up in the left hand corner of my blog next time you go, there's a link to TheCutestBlogOnTheBlock.com which is where I got that background (for free, I might add!) and she has several other beautiful ones to choose from. She gives directions on exactly how to do it and it's really not too difficult, so when you have a spare minute (yeah, right) you can check it out.
Have fun!
Thanks for keeping up. One day we'll have to get our girls reunited!
Oh, and don't worry about Halloween. I thought Kelly was really too little, but we had the dress and wings so we decided "why not?" She didn't go trick-or-treating either, just helped us pass out candy. Well go all out next year too!

So here's another thing about my sister that she didn't mention in her list--she has "it"--you know, that indefineable something that some people have that causes everyone in a room to stop talking and stare when she comes into the room.

Part of this is how striking she is to look at--she's nearly 6 feet tall, with beautiful blue eyes, an electric smile, and curves of the sort that make many men act like they've taken a sharp blow to the head when they see her--they stare, slack-jawed and sometimes become incapable of speech.

But it's much more than the stunning looks--she's whip smart without being a blowhard; laughs easily (most especially at herself) and makes others laugh; and she deeply loves her friends (she's had the same best friend since 8th grade--they roomed together in college, and have lived with or near each other ever since) and family, which radiates off her like something physical.

So even though she's too modest to have added THIS to the list (and frankly, she might just be clueless enough not to know this about herself :-)), it belongs on her list.

Through the eyes of a loving sister! Thank you Laura - your words gave me a much needed boost of confidence at a time when it was really needed. I don't know that I have "it" but it is wonderful to think that you think I do. In a bit of mutual admiration - you are the one I've always strived to be.

Beth - Kelsay shared your website with me. Congratulations to you both. Your daughter is just beautiful. I can only imagine the joy she must bring you.

As an aside, I couldn't agree more with the comments of your sister. She definitely hit the nail on the head. I hope this finds you well. Email me sometime...
