Any of you who have been through Music Together or had a child or grandchild in Montessori knows the title to this song. It's very cute and Jia loves it. However, it takes on an entirely different meaning while exploring around the house. Every door and cabinet gets this treatment. We knew it was coming and it's officially here! She's very much like her daddy in that if she opens a cabinet and gets something out it is very important to follow through with actually shutting the door - even if it means backtracking steps to put things in order. While spending time with my friend and colleague Kitty today I commented on the sweet potatoes on my pants. She asked - "Does Jia eat anything else?" :) Very funny and understandable comment. But I laughted and assured her our little firestorm does have days where she practically eats us out of house and home. Her Aunt Lisa keeps a record each day of Jia's food, excursions, activities, etc. Here is the list of food Jia ate TODAY:
6:50 am - 6 oz. formula and about 10 cheerios
9:00 am - cereal bar, grapenut cereal, yogurt balls
11:30 am - spaghetti with meatballs, kool-aid
3:00 pm - 1 Chick-Fillet Nugget, 1 fry, 5 oz. chocolate milk
4:10 pm - popcorn, picked apart (to avoid choking hazard), cran-rasberry juice
4:30 pm - 3 oz chocolate milk, sweet potato puffs (lots)
5:50 pm - half a container of microwaveable mac-n-cheese, 1 container stage 2 apple/sweet-potato baby food
7:00 pm - 1 oz. formula
The early morning and dinner and bedtime food happened at home - the rest Aunt Lisa had to come up with! And our little one is still not 20lbs! Although at her latest appt. she weighed in at 18 lbs 15 oz. so we're getting there! She has 4 molars cutting through so she is fairly miserable and has had several days in the past week where she rejects almost anything you put in front of her and just wants to suck her bottle. She's getting old for that but I'm just not going to worry about it. We don't offer that first and she gets lots of good nutrition but some days - well, she just wants comfort. I doubt she'll be walking down the aisle to get married with a bottle of formula! It all works itself out naturally! Right?
Here are some pics of Jia with her Daddy and at home.

Jia is so adorable! I love the food diary. I think Javi eats all day and could eat all night. At 26 months, he is still only 25 pounds. We love that song except my man does not shut things very well. Next up will be washing her tea set - Javi loves water!
So, two thoughts from the older sister:
1. Don't sweat the bottle thing--my two oldest nursed well past two and the youngest hung onto the bottle, at least before bed, until almost 2.
2. I wish ANYONE in my house would shut a cabinet door, turn off a light, put their shoes in the entry way, etc.--so if she's naturally prone to "putting things right" you are well-blessed.
Love Big Sis
Okay, that's just too stinkin cute how she's got the door-closing down!
Kelly got the molars in right after we came home, then the canines followed shortly thereafter... not a fun time, but hopefully it'll pass quickly. And I agree with you and your sister- don't sweat the bottle thing- it probably doesn't feel too good to chew anyway, so if the bottle fills her tummy and gives extra comfort too, then that's doubly good, right?
Some of Kelly's favorites during that time were pudding, mashed potatoes, yogurt (drinkable or "Gogurt" especially), and ice cream... just in case you need an idea or two!
Good luck with it- and enjoy that darling, little, door-closing cutie! Ours is stuck on opening- she needs to get to the closing part... maybe we need that song!
Hugs,
Jennifer =)
