Jia had her 18 month well baby check up today (she also turned 19 mos. old today!) and had to get one of her shots. Poor baby. What is it with shots and kids? I mean, they can't really hurt that badly can they? But what do I know - maybe they do. They invoke sheer terror in the hearts of children. The good news is that they only take seconds to get and then after some considerable coaxing the kiddos are once again ok. Jia is still just under 19 lbs but she's growing and is now officially on the US charts for length! Well, I guess she always has been now that I think about it but she's hovering right at the 10th percentile. Still well below charts on weight although the doc didn't have any concerns about this since she's proportionate, healthy and whip smart. She's just going to be skinny like her mom. (no comments needed on that one.) She does have an ear infection though so that may explain our recent sleeping challenges. Jia is now awake promptly at 5 am or just before no matter what time I get her to bed. I've tried early, late and in between and my alarm clock is now a crying baby. I'm just sick that it may have been because she felt bad. No signs of an ear infection presented - no fever, no pulling at the ears - just the change in sleep. She has seemed to have less energy and enthusiasm over the past couple of weeks but still has been very happy and busy, busy, busy. I'll just have to keep a close eye on her as we learn the signs that she may be feeling poorly. She really does continue to be a delightful, funny, gentle, demanding, opinionated joyful little girl. I've caught a few pictures of her in the morning and playing with dad. I just like these so they made it onto to the blog. No real backstory except that she looks like she is extremely unhappy with the whole idea of the camera in the one shot. But hey, I had to get up at 5am - the least she could do was pose for me.

Wow, Jia's a tiny peanut! Kelly was 23 lbs. 12 oz. and 32 inches tall at her 18 mo check up! Sometimes it's so hard to tell just by the pictures how big/little they really are! Kelly still seems little compared to a lot of our American baby friends- she's at about the 50th percentile.
Well, Jia is absolutely adorable, and sounds a lot like Kelly in personality... no wonder they were buddies. I bet they tore it up at Yangxi together!
Kelly had an ear infection a couple of weeks ago and had the same issues... not a lot of symptoms, but waking up really early all the sudden. A fever did eventually come. I hope Jia gets back to sleeping in a little for you.
By the way, I love the new kitchen Jia got for Christmas! So designer!
Love the red!
Okay, before I write a book, I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by. I've been meaning to drop you a note as well. Glad you had a good Christmas and New Year.
Happy o nine to you all!
Hugs to sweet Jia from Kelly,
Jennifer =)
Hey! Glad you stopped by! Yes, Jia is little - always has been! She's almost 31 inches long so she's got a bit of length but keeping our busy little firestorm with enough calories is always a challenge! She is a picky eater still and when she isn't asleep she is MOVING! :) I'm sure you know how that is! So glad to hear your family is doing so well and Kelly is feeling better!

What a cutie Jia is...she is growing and changing so fast. Still a tiny peanut. Those shots must hurt as I work at the Health Unit and listen to the Health Nurse giving shots to babies all day long on clinic days and they sure scream. Poor little ones. Hugs to Jia.
